Brewery workers

Issue No. 1932

HUNDREDS OF workers at Interbrew’s four breweries in Britain are to ballot for industrial action after the company refused to accept national bargaining with unions.

Interbrew recently announced the closure of its Boddingtons factory in Manchester, which has led to repeated walkouts.

The sites to be balloted include Magor near Newport in South Wales, Samlesbury near Preston in Lancashire and the Wellpark brewery in Glasgow.

The threat of strikes by TGWU union delivery drivers working for Scottish Courage has won an improved pay offer.
