Miners' gala cheers rail strikers

Issue No. 1809

ARRIVA RAIL workers in the north of England marched to join the annual Miners' Gala in Durham last Saturday as they staged their fifteenth one-day strike.

The gala, though not on the scale it was in the heyday of the mining industry, attracted tens of thousands of trade unionists and working people. The Arriva workers, as well as union speakers who attacked low pay and privatisation, got a warm reception.
