Jaguar

by a CAR WORKER
Issue No. 1808

OVER 50 workers in the body plant at Jaguar cars in Liverpool walked out unofficially on Friday last week after a workmate was suspended. Management claimed the worker had been absent three times from the production line over the last week. They suspended him for a day.

The workers pointed out that the foreman at the heart of the dispute has a history of intimidation. They are sick of the regular bullying. The TGWU members feel proud of their action. It is the first unofficial walkout at the body plant that any of the workers can remember.

Although the union officials were not happy with the walkout, the workers warned there would be more action if management doesn't sort out the foreman.
