London airports

Issue No. 1807

LONDON'S airports could be hit by strike action over the busy summer holiday period. Workers at the handling agents Aviance have rejected a measly 1.5 percent pay offer and are now being balloted for action.

Consultative ballots show a massive majority in favour of strike action in support of a 3 percent pay claim. Aviance is the handling agent for airlines at London's Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick airports . Workers on British Airways voted at a series of mass meetings to take action for a pay rise. The company is currently refusing to offer any pay rise to its workforce.
