THE CHART-topping band Chumbawamba launched an attack on the BNP, after announcing they would play in the Anti Nazi League (ANL) concert in Burnley on 27 June.
The 'Love music, hate racism' gig features band members Alice Nutter, Boff and Lou Watts from Burnley.
The ANL concert is aimed at bringing together Asian and white people in Burnley to promote racial harmony after three BNP Nazis were elected in recent council elections.
Alice, the lead singer of the band, said, 'We think it's really important for people to stand up to the BNP, because if they don't people will get used to them being in the council. They will become accepted as part of the political fabric, and that's just another way of saying that racism and hatred are acceptable. The most terrible attitudes can become normal currency if we let them.'
Gig tickets available from Burnley Mechanics-phone 01282 664 400.
ANTI-RACISTS reacted with fury at the news that Jorg Haider is to host a press conference in London to launch Ryanair's London-Klagenfurt service. Haider is Austria's leading Nazi. He describes Hitler's Waffen SS troops as 'decent people' and praises Hitler's policies as 'orderly'.
Haider is a virulent racist who wants racial apartheid in Austria's schools.
Protest, 5pm, Thursday 27 June, Royal Horseguards Hotel, London. For information phone the Anti Nazi League on 020 7924 0333.
