Bookmarks has just published a new edition of Rosa Luxemburg’s superb pamphlet The Mass Strike (£4), which draws out the lessons for socialists from the titanic strikes that repeatedly shook the Russian empire in the revolution of 1905.
Before this socialists had looked back to the great French Revolution of 1789. Now, as workers’ actions were central to a great revolution, Luxemburg provided a new understanding of the role of strikes. The lessons remain as relevant today as when she first wrote this brilliant work.
This new edition, with an introduction by Martin Smith, is the only separate version available.
