The threat from the fascist British National Party (BNP) has never been greater. They received over 800,000 votes in the European elections and over 90,000 votes in the London elections in 2004, representing the highest ever votes for a fascist party in Britain.
To stop the BNP making a further breakthrough will require a concerted and increased campaign. Campaigning has raised awareness and denied them breakthroughs in some of their target areas.
Unite Against Fascism was launched last year to combat this threat, bringing together all the different sections of society that oppose fascism and the BNP.
Unite Against Fascism’s conference will bring the anti-fascist movement together to analyse the fascist threat and to share the experience of those who have fought against them.
With the BNP standing over 100 candidates in the general election the threat of the fascist party standing in our area is becoming a reality for more and more of us. I urge you all to come to this important conference. Act now to stop the BNP!
