Defend Council Housing

by Paul Burnham, Haringey Defend Council Housing
Issue No. 1944

The ballot papers are out and tenants and leaseholders are beginning to vote on the Arms Length Management Organisation (Almo) proposal for council housing in Haringey.

Where our message has got out to people, the votes are running against the private company. But the council is spending pots of our rent money to try to swing opinion towards the Almo.

We are taking the council to the district auditor for the misinformation they have been spreading, but in the meantime we still have to beat them in this vital vote.

Everybody who is opposed to the Almo can make a difference by voting no, talking to their neighbours, putting up our posters, and handing out our latest leaflet.

We have been to schools and mosques where we have had a great reception, and we have toured round estates with leaflets and in a speaker car.
