Two billboard posters appeared in Bristol last week which highlight how the three main political parties support the continuing illegal occupation of Iraq. They were put up by Guerrilla Art.

The Graphic Attack designed poster entitled “We are all brutalised by conflict” features the faces of the party leaders against a backdrop of explosions in Iraq. Michael Howard’s mouth is wrapped in barbed wire to signify the repression of the occupation.

Tony Blair is shown with a wounded eye to represent the death of 100,000 Iraqis in the conflict, while Lib Dem leader Charles Kennedy has electric clips attached to his ears to symbolise the torture of prisoners.

The groups say, “The invasion and occupation of Iraq, with the consequent tens of thousands of deaths, is and was a crime.

“To support pro-war candidates in this election would condone and accept complicity in the planning and waging of an aggressive war.”
