The Socialist Workers Party Marxism 2005 event has been changed this year to enable people to go to both the G8 protests and Marxism.
The five day event will include speakers on a wide range of topics including the election, the Middle East, women’s liberation, and Africa.
Kathleen Sherry, a student at Glasgow University, said, “The Make Poverty History demonstration on Saturday 2 July is vital, but there are also loads of things happening during the following week. The two most important to me are the G8 Alternatives summit, which will be a real opportunity for activists to get together and discuss the issues, and the demonstration at Gleneagles on Wednesday 6 July.
“Let’s make sure that the G8 leaders not only see our protests in the media but can hear our protests through the windows.
“Straight after the G8 I’ll be going down to London for Marxism. I think it’s really good that the event has been moved to fit with the G8. It’s been such a huge year politically, so five days of debate and political discussion will be great.”
