Depth of Field is a collective which was formed by a group of young photographers in Lagos, Nigeria.

Their photographs are centred on everyday life. Their name comes from exploring the different levels of Lagos. The city’s vibrant street life is vividly captured in this exhibition.

Particularly fascinating are the images of the city at night — shapes and figures stand out in the glow of candle light in the market places.

Don’t Eat This Book
Morgan Spurlock

This book gives the background story to the award-winning documentary Super Size Me, which exposed McDonalds, deepening its analysis and chronicling its impact.

It reveals how McDonalds’ reps threatened media outlets with loss of revenue if they spoke to film-maker Morgan Spurlock or ran stories about the film.

Spurlock is a witty, engaging narrator in the style of Michael Moore.

He assembles a devastating array of facts to lay bare the link between fast food and obesity.

Full of insightful observations about US corporate culture and characterised by an infectious belief in the power of people to effect change, this is a must read.

Yo Yo Mundi

As part of the commemorations of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Italy from fascism and Nazism the anti-capitalist band Yo Yo Mundi have released this new album.

It is a collection of partisan songs recorded live in January this year which celebrate the struggle of freedom fighters against fascism during the Second World War.

Yo Yo Mundi deliver a lively and thrilling performance, as always, to a grateful audience.

Peter David
