'ISRAEL IS The Terror State' filled the front page of last week's Socialist Worker. That message received a huge response from people outraged by Israeli leader Sharon's war on the Palestinians. On Saturday's 100,000-strong solidarity demo in London 4,000 copies of Socialist Worker were sold, with over 300 people joining the SWP.
In the build-up to the London protest more than 400 papers were sold at New Street station in Birmingham. Over 220 papers were sold across the Home Counties as sellers petitioned and leafleted.
At Sheffield further education college 47 papers were sold, along with 31 in Doncaster town centre, and 72 in Liverpool city centre. A demonstration in Exeter against the occupation of Palestine attracted 350 at very short notice 45 papers were sold, with people coming off the pavements to join the march and buy Socialist Worker.
On Friday night in London Socialist Worker supporters held a street meeting in solidarity with the Palestinians. Sellers (including four new SWP members) sold 207 papers at Bayswater tube, with 10 people joining the SWP.
