Local residents and anti-fascist campaigners have responded brilliantly to an attempt by the Nazi BNP to target the Clifton area of York. A group of fascists appeared in the ward last weekend, in an attempt to exploit concerns over a proposed hostel for the homeless.

Local Labour councillors and activists from the Residents Association (RA) were quick to publicly condemn the BNP in the local press. York Unite Against Fascism group worked with the councillors, RA activists, the vicar of Clifton, trade unionists and others to produce and distribute a counter-leaflet which was well received in the ward.
