Defra workers

by Keith Crane
Issue No. 1971

PCS Union members in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) have voted for strike action, and for action short of a strike, in a ballot over pay.

The central issue is pay equality within the “Defra family”. Agency employees currently receive worse pay rates than core Defra employees.

It is expected that the action will kick off with a one day strike followed by a rolling programme of action, backed by a work to rule and a ban on overtime.
