The student union at Imperial College, part of the University of London, voted on Thursday of last week to oppose the new dress code being imposed on campus by university authorities.
The code, which is being introduced on “security” grounds, bans hooded tops, scarves over faces and full and half veils. Students and staff are obliged to wear photo ID cards on colour coded ribbons at all times.
Student Respect activists have played a prominent role in the campaign against the dress code, proposing the motion to the student union to oppose the plans.
The student union and college Islamic Society have called a protest on campus against the dress code for 12 noon on Thursday of this week.
