Huddersfield technical college

Striking caretakers in the Unison union at Huddersfield Technical College entered their fourth week of indefinite action on Monday.

They got a great reception at a meeting in Birmingham of the United Left grouping in the Unison union at the weekend, where £280 was raised and people pledged to raise support in other workplaces and branches.

The strike has forced management to move from an intransigent position to starting to make offers to settle the dispute.

Caretakers were considering those this week, but the concessions were not believed to be enough to end the strike.

With Christmas approaching there is a real urgency about raising solidarity and collections to make up for lost pay.
