Socialist Worker appeal

Total so far £108,125

Issue No. 1980

The Socialist Worker Appeal stands at £108,125. That is no mean achievement and thanks to all who have supported it so far.

A children’s party in Newcastle raised £132 for the appeal last weekend. Thirty parents each paid £5 so their children could have loads of fun. A tombola raised extra cash.

Paul in Dudley delivers Socialist Worker each week to six people. Last week he took round a collection sheet for our appeal and raised £35.

A number of subscribers have generously sent in donations, including £50 from readers in Pontefract and Edinburgh, £30 from a subscriber in Levenshulme, Manchester, £20 from a Derby reader, £10 from readers in Gravesend and Hull, and £5 from an Aylesbury subscriber.

Give yourself a potential break in the New Year with our Big Red Raffle. First prize is a trip for two to Caracas, Venezuela. Send in your orders for tickets, which cost £1 each.

This week’s edition of Socialist Worker is once again 20 pages, allowing us to carry extra material for the International Peace Conference. In total that costs us an extra £1,000. If you think that’s money well spent why not send us a seasonal gift to help us cover the costs?

The clock is ticking on our appeal. We are closing on our target. Rush donations and collections in now.
