Around 150 people attended a protest in Sheffield last Saturday in support of Mohammad Arrian.
The Home Office has detained Mohammad with the intention of deporting him on 17 January. He fled Afghanistan more than ten years ago after his father was murdered by warlords. His mother, three brothers and two sisters have won indefinite leave to remain. But Mohammad’s application was rejected.
Mohammad’s mother and other family members attended the protest. The campaign has galvanised support across the city. After much pressure his local MP Richard Caborn has arranged to meet home secretary Charles Clarke about the case.
