Crackdown on bus strike in Iran

Issue No. 1986

Hundred of bus workers in Teheran, Iran were detained by the state last week in an attempt to prevent strike action, according to Amnesty International.

The strike was to be over a number of issues, including a demand for the release of the union’s leader, Mansour Ossanlu.

An international day of action has been called for Saturday 4 February. In London the TUC will be handing a letter of protest in at the Iranian embassy.
