George Galloway deportation from Egypt abandoned after protests

Respect MP George Galloway has been allowed entry into Egypt after being detained at Cairo airport on the grounds of “state security”.

Galloway, who was held overnight in a cell at the airport, was due to be deported back the UK after his name appeared on a blacklist.

Authorities backed down after protests from opposition groups.

Galloway was invited by the Union of Arab Lawyers to give testimony on war crimes Iraq and Palestine.
