Terminal 5 settlement

Issue No. 1988

Construction workers working for Laing O’Rourke at the Heathrow Terminal 5 site have settled their bonus pay dispute after several rounds of strike action.

On a high turnout 73 percent voted in favour of the new offer.

The improved deal came after workers rejected previous offers negotiated by union officials.

The final offer increases the amount of the back pay to £800 per person with the hourly bonus rate increasing by 80p per hour.

This is close to the £1 an hour increase the workers were fighting for.

There is also a no intimidation or retaliation clause in the offer.

This will protect the employment and positions of the workers who have taken part in the industrial action related to the dispute.
