School caterers and cleaners covering around 50 schools in Aberdeen are set to go on strike this Thursday and Friday unless a new deal is offered by the local council.
The 600 staff, mainly female catering, cleaning, clerical and care workers, are owed money by the council.
Members of the T&G union voted to suspend a planned walkout on Thursday and Friday of last week after fresh negotiations with the city council over equal pay and bonus payments.
Tommy Campbell of the T&G union said, “The decision to suspend strike action is only a question of workers deciding to step back – it is not about surrendering or stepping down from the issue.”
Further talks will take place this week aimed at ending the dispute.
