Unite Against Fascism is organising a national day of action against the British National Party (BNP) on Sunday 30 April.
The fascist BNP is fielding 365 council candidates across England at the local elections on 4 May.
There has been a slight shift in the BNP’s regional focus since the last local elections two years ago.
The fascists have increased the number of candidates in West Yorkshire, the West Midlands and London, but have fewer standing in north east England.
Many anti-fascist campaigners are worried that disillusion with mainstream parties could lead to an increased vote for the BNP. But the fascists can be beaten back when they face a united and confident political challenge.
Love Music Hate Racism
The Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) campaign, which is backed by Unite, is also planning a series of anti-fascist gigs, carnivals and events in the run up to 4 May.
These include a carnival at Leeds University on Sunday 23 April, featuring Oceansize, Lethal Bizzle, RDB, DJ Indy Sagu, Good Shoes, Play Mates, This Et Al and the East Park Reggae Collective.
There will also be a free LMHR event with speakers and music in Trafalgar Square, London, on Sunday 29 April.
Acts set to appear include Belle & Sebastian, Roll Deep and Lethal Bizzle.
