Public Services Not Privatisation

Issue No. 2003

A joint union campaign against privatisation will be launched at a rally and mass lobby of parliament on Tuesday 27 June.

The organisers say, “Since 1997, New Labour has continued the Tories’ drive to privatise our public services.

“Up to £100 billion has so far been committed to PFI, a scheme devised in the early 1990s to transfer large portions of the public sector to private profiteers. Rather than increasing investment in our public services, PFI is wasting billions of public funds boosting the profits of private contractors who are downgrading services and slashing pay and conditions for public sector workers.”

The rally commences at 12 noon at Westminster Central Hall and is backed by Aslef, CWU, CYWU, FBU, Napo, Natfhe, NUJ, NUS, NUT, PCS, POA, RMT, and TSSA unions. For more information phone 020 7219 1626.
