Issue No. 1892

WORKERS AT Mid Kent Water have started a strike ballot over a maintenance contract for raw sewage work. A GMB spokesperson says, 'The ballot comes after harassment of staff who have refused the work.'

The company won a contract to provide sewage maintenance to Epping Forest district council in Essex and told GMB members to do the work. This could contaminate the system as workers who usually deal only with clean water will work with sewage.
