South Tyneside hospitals domestic staff to strike

Issue No. 2010

Domestic staff at South Tyneside hospitals were set to strike for 24 hours on Thursday of this week.

The workers, members of the Unison and GMB unions, are in dispute over pay and conditions under the Agenda for Change deal.

Managers are refusing to accept the results of a job analysis for the workers.

The domestics have banned overtime since Thursday of last week. About 180 workers were expected to strike.
