Three-day strike planned at Whipps Cross hospital

Issue No. 2015

Workers employed by Initial Rentokil at Whipps Cross hospital in Leytonstone, east London, plan a three-day strike to win the same terms and conditions as colleagues employed by the NHS.

The strike, the latest in a series of actions, is set to start next Wednesday if the workers’ demands are not met.

The domestics, catering staff and porters are members of the Unison union, and they are demanding that an agreement over contracts is implemented.

The deal, secured in an earlier strike three years ago, would put the privatised workers onto contracts equivalent to those directly employed by the NHS.

Donations c/o Chris Remington, Unison London region, Congress House, Great Russell Street, London WC1B 3LS. Cheques payable to Unison.
