Wiltshire bin workers work to rule

Refuse collectors in west Wiltshire restarted their work to rule last weekend.

The workers struck for a day in August and began a work to rule over excessive overtime and changes to working patterns, workloads and routes without consultation.

We have tried to resolve this dispute with contractor Cleanaway. The workload is excessive and has resulted in increased sickness levels.

Rubbish went uncollected in some parts of the district for up to three weeks. During rounds, workers will work at a comfortable pace and not run between rounds, cross roads unsafely or lift heavy weights.

Workers have been working until 7pm some nights to complete normal rounds.
