Union victory on London Underground

Issue No. 2018

The threat of strike action has won a victory on London Underground’s Jubilee Line.

A director’s appeal decided that the dismissal of Raj Nathvani should be suspended for 12 months and then reviewed at the end of this period.

A ballot of Jubilee Line drivers was cancelled in the light of the reinstatement.

A station staff worker at the centre of a separate dispute at the Canary Wharf station group has also been reinstated by a director’s appeal after being “medically terminated”, despite being passed fit to return to work.

Workers voted by four to one majority for industrial action over the breakdown of industrial relations in the group.

The RMT national executive has given London Underground two weeks to provide details of the action it intends to take to resolve the problems.
