Momentum grows for Organising for Fighting Unions conference

The Organising for Fighting Unions conference on Saturday 11 November, is becoming a central focus for the debates on the future of the Labour movement.

The Respect initiated conference will discuss defending public services from the government’s assaults, and discuss political representation for trade unionists.

With hundreds of trade unionists all ready registered for the conference it looks set to be the biggest meeting of rank and file trade unionists since the 1970s.

The assistant branch secretary of Unison NHS Logistics in Kent signed up for the conference on the picket line last week.

Among the latest branches to send delegates are Mansfield & District and Bath trades councils; Swindon, East London, Lewisham, Ealing, Southwark and Dudley NUT; Sheffield and district and Transport for London No1 RMT; Leicester 0094 Amicus, GMB Burnley, T&G 1/1120; Wigan and Cardiff &Vale Health Unison. Delegates have also signed up from Unison Leeds, Kirklees, Islington, Tower Hamlets, Kensington & Chelsea, Camden, Haringey, Waltham Forest and Kings College.

Among the speakers at the conference are Bob Crow, RMT general secretary; Mark Serwotka, PCS general secretary; John McDonnell MP; George Galloway MP; Matt Wrack, FBU general secretary and John Hendy QC.
