Anti-deportation campaign

Issue No. 1911

MORE THAN 30 campaigners lobbied the immigration appeal hearing of Tham Sarki last week.

Tham is an asylum seeker and former resistance member from Nepal, who has been active in the movement since he came to London.

If returned to Nepal, where there has been a vicious civil war that has claimed 8,000 lives in the past eight years, he would be arrested at the airport.

His fate would then be in the hands of the Nepalese security forces that, according to Amnesty International, are responsible for the unlawful killings of thousands of Nepalese.

The hearing was adjourned. A new one is set for Tuesday 2 August at 10am at Taylor House, 88 Rosebery Avenue, London EC1.

We call on anti-racist activists to join the lobby.
