There are fears that a private members bill could be introduced in parliament to curb abortion rights.
So, in advance of the ballot which determines which MPs get to put these bills forward, Abortion Rights has organised a lobby of parliament and a public meeting on Wednesday 22 November.
Anne Quesney, director of Abortion Rights, said, “The anti-choice lobby has hijacked the abortion debate, perpetuating the myth that all abortions cause psychological distress and focusing the debate on the rights of the foetus, in order to undermine support for a woman’s right to choose.”
Last week saw the defeat of Conservative MP Nadine Dorries’s bill to reduce the abortion time limit - with 108 votes for and 187 votes against.
It is vital that this is followed up by the biggest possible turnout to show that any attack on abortion rights is unacceptable.
Wednesday 22 November: Lobby of Parliament, 11am to 4pm, public meeting 7pm-9pm, Room 10, House of Commons, Westminster.
