We are very pleased to announce that we have the following speakers confirmed;

Mary Smith; Mary is a long standing socialist and abortion rights campaigner in Dublin. She is a member of "People before Profit"and Socialist Worker Network The huge victory for Southern Irish women in repealing the 8th amendment was an historic step forward in the fight for abortion rights. Mary played a leading and central role in the campaign and will share with us how they were able to beat the Church in winning the vote and also the prospects going forward for the women liberation and socialist movement in Ireland

Simone Saville: Simone is from Brazil where unlike Ireland we have seen the victory of the far right Bolsanero . This is leading to attacks on the rights of women and other oppressed communities in Brazil. Simone will outline the threats to women rights from his regime.

We hope to show video messages from women activists in a number of countries fighting for liberation.

International women's day origins are in a radical working class movement first celebrated in the USA IN 1909. It has become a day when millions of women around the world take to the streets to show opposition to sexism and exploitation built into the system. With a new generation of women no longer willing to put up with discrimination, objectification and violence this meeting is a chance to hear and discuss how we can fight for a world without oppression where women win their liberation as part of the struggle of human emancipation.
