Around 70 people attended a peace vigil in Edinburgh on Friday of last week after the London bombings.

Rose Gentle, the mother of soldier Gordon Gentle who was killed in Iraq, laid a wreath at St Giles cathedral and made a moving speech.

A local piper from Edinburgh played a beautiful lament. Other people attending the vigil included Eric Cramb, a church of Scotland minister from Dundee, Scottish Socialist Party MSP Rosie Kane, Green MSP Mark Ballard and Shouib Saeed of the Muslim Association of Britain.

About 40 people gathered at the peace statue on Hove Lawns on Monday of this week to show our respect for the dead and our support for the people affected by the terrible bomb attacks in London.

We listened to peace songs and held a minute’s silence. People spoke about the implications of the attacks. The vigil was called by Sussex Action for Peace
