Some 5,000 Bolivian migrant workers brought the Floresta district of Buenos Aires, Argentina, to a standstill on Wednesday of last week. The placard reads: “Factory Owners the party is over!”

The demonstration followed a fire, which claimed six lives including four children.

Paco, a factory worker and one of the demo organisers, said, “We are workers not slaves. There are many Bolivians in a terrible economic position right now. We demand proper work with proper contracts and official work permits.”

Recently the Kirchner government has staged a crackdown on illegal immigrants.
