Mario Monti is the new leader of Italy. He has not been elected. Instead he has been picked by Europe’s elite to “fix” the crisis in Italy.
He has said that he wants to preside over “a future of dignity and hope”. But his only task is to implement brutal austerity plans demanded by the European central Bank and the IMF.
Monti worked for almost ten years from 1995 in European bureaucracy. It is his friends at the top that he will listen to.
