A long wait for trains
MORE RAIL chaos will result from the latest cost-cutting plan by Britain’s largest train operating company. National Express runs nine of Britain’s 25 train franchises. It plans to merge three of them together-WAGN, Silverlink and c2c. Experts say that the disruption and loss of expertise will result in further problems for passengers.
Similar mergers are expected to follow amongst other train franchises that want to make up for the money they have lost while the railways have been in turmoil. The Strategic Rail Authority is encouraging such “consolidation” to boost finances.
