Issue 2254

Management attempts to drive through a “business plan” that would cut jobs is creating a storm at our school.

Management backed off from targeting teachers after our NUT union held an indicative ballot that voted 65 to two in favour of taking action against redundancies.

Subsequently other staff being targeted were invited into a room and given ten minutes to plough through a huge number of documents.

Many broke down when they discovered that their posts had been “deleted”.

Others discovered that they were to be sacked the next morning when they had finished analysing the documents.

Now workers in the GMB and Unison unions are looking to take industrial action too.
