Some 200 anti-fascists easily outnumbered Nazi group the English Volunteer Force (EVF) in Croydon, south London, last Saturday.

The EVF mustered 40 fascists for an anti-immigration protest outside Lunar House, a Home Office building.

Unite Against Fascism (UAF) called a counter demonstration with the PCS union.

Richard, PCS branch secretary at Lunar House, told Socialist Worker, “We had a very, very positive response. There’s a lot of community support.”

The Nazis skulked back to Croydon station under police escort.

Later an even smaller number went to Parliament Square for a “protest” which amounted to some flag waving.

In Pollokshields, Glasgow, 300 people joined a UAF rally against the Scottish Defence League (SDL) on the same day.

MSP Humza Yousaf stressed that people have stood against the SDL every time they have tried to spread their racial hatred.

Speakers warned that the SDL plans to march in Edinburgh on 17 August. All anti-fascists in Scotland should go to Edinburgh with the message that the SDL shall not pass.
