AROUND 350 people crammed into a meeting at Leeds University on Thursday of last week to hear Labour MP George Galloway, Kate Hudson of CND and Anas Al-Tikriti of the Muslim Association of Great Britain.
The speakers were united in calling for Tony Blair to take the blame for Britain’s role in the unpopular and bloody occupation of Iraq, and leading our country into war on false premises.
Some of the loudest cheers greeted Galloway’s call for mass demonstrations to coincide with George Bush’s planned state visit to Britain in November.
LEEDS STOP THE WAR COALITION
AROUND 120 people attended a meeting last week in Deal, a tiny town in East Kent, at which George Galloway MP spoke. It was a lively discussion. Deal sent a coach to last weekend’s national demonstration. Deal has not had a coach to a demonstration since the miners strike in 1984-5.
Deal Stop the War Coalition have decided to organise a speaker every month.
