Manjeet Kaur, an asylum seeker from Afghanistan, spoke about the government’s attack on migrants.

“They’ve tested the water with people seeking asylum and they’ll do what they did to us on people claiming benefits.”

Manjeet was speaking at the benefit justice summit (see page XX). “We are all in it together,” she said. “Whatever they do to asylum seekers, they will do to the rest. We have to fight back together.”

“I’m not entitled to anything and I have no money. I’m here because even though I’m not on benefits, we have to fight back together. It’s a fight for all of us.

“I married a man who was a journalist, fighting corruption in governments and we moved to India. I’ve moved about a lot and now I’m here. He is missing.

“I’ve been running from governments all my life.

“This government nearly made me destitute. I was going to be on the streets within an hour before it got legally overturned.”
