Voting for the Unison union general secretary begins next week. Socialist Worker is supporting Paul Holmes.
Paul has an outstanding record over 21 years as branch secretary of one of the biggest and strongest branches in the union—Kirklees. Paul says, “After the election we all know that the biggest attack on public spending for a generation is coming.
“As general secretary I will work to unite all public sector unions to defend our jobs, pay and pensions, and to fight alongside our communities to save services.
“I should receive the average worker’s wage. I won’t put the interests of Labour or any party before members and will let members decide on whether we continue to fund Labour.”
Paul calls for deeper democracy in the union.
Over 50 union branches nominated Paul for general secretary. Socialist Worker supporters in Unison should campaign hard for Paul as a left alternative to Dave Prentis.
