Members of the UCU union at Barnsley college have voted to call off their campaign of strikes to win the reinstatement of sacked UCU branch official Bob Willerton.
The college has agreed a deal with Bob that involves it withdrawing the charge of gross misconduct that led to his sacking – effectively reinstating him.
But management were determined to prevent him returning to work, so it was agreed he would leave the college on 14 October.
Branch members are clear that if they had not taken decisive action, then Bob would have remained sacked.
