Barnsley shock for Lib Dems
Labour won the Barnsley by-election last week. The party increased its majority despite the previous MP being jailed for fiddling his expenses.
The right wing UKIP came second. The Lib Dems lost their deposit and were beaten by the Nazi BNP.
Some in Labour wrongly argue for the party to take on a
anti-immigration stand to tackle the right.
We need to say clearly that immigrants are not to blame for unemployment and bad housing.
And imposing cuts was why the Lib Dems were crushed. The stronger the anti-cuts fight is, the easier it will be to defeat the right.
