Tenants affected by the bedroom tax and their supporters slept out in more than 50 towns and cities on Saturday of last week. They were highlighting the threat of people losing their homes.

“No matter how safe we feel in our homes, we are all just one government decision from sleeping on the streets,” said John McFarlane. He was sleeping out in Manchester’s Albert Square. Other camps included Islington and Brixton in London.

Almost 30 people spent the night in Kelvingrove, Glasgow, helped by donations of hot food from surrounding shops and cafes.
