In a sign of the growing size of protests against the cuts, around 1,500 joined a rally against cuts in Brighton last Saturday and then marched through the town centre.
Workers, parents and children from the council’s Bright Start nursery, which faces closure, led off the protest.
The march, organised by Brighton Stop the Cuts, heard from Dot Gibson of the National Pensioners Convention and Caroline Lucas, Green Party MP for Brighton Pavillion, as well as local trade unionists.
