BSkyB is still in baron’s sights

Rupert Murdoch is still desperate to grab full control of British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB). His News Corporation currently owns 39.1 percent of it.

When Lib Dem business secretary Vince Cable unwittingly revealed he had “declared war” on Murdoch, the Tories backed Murdoch.

Cable was stripped of his role in overseeing the deal.

The pro-Murdoch Tory culture secretary, Jeremy Hunt, took over.

Now Murdoch is talking about selling his British newspapers in an attempt to save the bid.

He had pledged to ditch Sky News to avoid a potentially messy encounter with the Competition Commission.

Now he has retreated—so the government has refered the bid to the commission to buy Murdoch valuable time while the scandal dies down.
