Around 80 people attended the Nick Griffin Must Go regional confrerence organised by North West Unite Against Fascism (UAF) in Liverpool last Sunday.

Unions supporting the conference included Unite North West, North West NUT, UCU North West, CWU North West Region among others.

It is only six months until the European elections, when the fascist BNP leader Griffin only needs around 7 percent of the vote to keep his North West seat.

UAF launched the Nick Griffin Must Go campaign in 2011 and has been campaigning ever since to kick out Nazi Nick.

TUC President Mohammad Taj said, “I think we should congratulate UAF for the work they have done.”

Theresa Griffin plans to stand for Labour against Griffin in 2014. She said, “We will work collectively to ensure that Nick Griffin and the BNP no longer represent the North West in the European Parliament.”

Billy Hayes, CWU General Secretary, told the conference, “I was sickened to hear that Griffin won the election. We now have a chance to defeat him.”
