The inquest into the death of Dorothy “Cherry” Groce last week heard a statement written by her after she was shot by police.

Cherry was shot in the shoulder and left paralysed from the waist down after officers raided her Brixton home looking for her son in 1985.

The jury has heard how the shooting may have contributed to her death in 2011.

In the statement Cherry said that as she lay bleeding at the foot of her bed, police continued to shout at her.

She screamed out “I can’t breathe, I can’t feel my legs. I’m going to die.”

The inquest, which began last week, is due to last eight days.
