The inquest jury into the death of Smiley Culture, real name David Emmanuel, found that the singer died from a “self inflicted stab wound to the chest”.

David died during a police search of his home in Surrey on 15 March 2011.

The inquest heard that the singer “completely changed” while talking with officers.

Cops claim he then grabbed a knife and stabbed himself in the chest.

The officer who was supervising him said he did not see where David produced the knife from.

During the inquest Leslie Thomas, representing David’s daughter Chanice McConnachie, accused the officer of failing to provide adequate supervision.

Surrey coroner Richard Travers said that he would be compiling a report for the Metropolitan Police.

This will be to suggest changes and improvements to how officers supervise people during home visits.
